As one of the provincial branches of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada which was founded in 1936 in Saskatoon, Saskatoon, the Manitoba Branch was founded in 1950.

The Ukrainian Museum of Canada - Manitoba branch houses a collection of Ukrainian folk arts and crafts brought from Ukraine by early pioneers and includes traditional dress of various regions, woven articles (kylyms), Easter eggs (pysanky), wood carvings, a library and gift shop. Most of the collection was donated by descendants of the first, second and third waves of Ukrainian immigrants to Canada.
